Breast Augmentation Surgery Cost
One of the first concerns that individuals
interested in obtaining breast implants through breast
augmentation surgery have relates to the cost of breast
implants. Financially, breast augmentation prices have
to be a major concern. For the most part, insurance
companies do not provide coverage for this treatment,
unless your doctor has deemed it medically necessary.
Although everybody should consider their present
financial situation when deciding on whether to undergo
breast augmentation, it should be noted that monetary
concerns should not be the main motivation behind the
important decision of undergoing any type of cosmetic
surgery.
What
determines the cost
It depends
mostly on the surgeon you choose, what type of implants
you use, where you live, and whether or not you will
need additional procedures with the surgery. The price
is not necessarily fixed and it is difficult to provide
a concrete figure of what breast augmentation will
costs.
What the
cost will include
Be sure to ask if the price is all-inclusive. It should
include pre-operative consultations, before and after
photos, the surgery, the doctors professional fees, the
anesthesia and operating room costs, implants, if any,
and all post-operative follow-ups. Costs of medication
will generally be separate, your responsibility, and
not included in the price you are quoted.
Cost
related to location
This is
because rates will vary related to where an individual
is obtaining their treatment. For example, plastic
surgery prices tend to be cheaper in Los Angeles,
California when compared to the cost of breast implants
in Eugene, Oregon. This is because the availability of
plastic surgeons in an area will have a great effect on
the costs of breast implant surgery. Additionally, the
professional reputation and expertise of plastic
surgeons will also be reflected in the breast
augmentation prices. As a result, famed plastic
surgeons will charge more than plastic surgeons that
are attempting to gain experience within the industry.
Estimated
costs of breast implant surgery
As an
estimate, the cost of breast implants will range
between $4,000 and $10,000. This figure though
represents additional expenses accrued during breast
augmentation surgery. Examples of these additional
services that are added in breast augmentation prices
are: surgery costs, operating room costs, anesthesia,
and consultation fees.
Considering the wide range of breast augmentation costs
given by plastic surgeons, it is often tempting for
interested breast augmentation patients to go with the
doctor that is offering their services for the lowest
prices. If you are leaning towards a plastic surgeon
that provides their service for a figure on the lower
end of the pricing spectrum, you should seriously
consider their qualifications as a doctor. As the
saying goes, "if the price is too good to be true, it
probably is."
Cheaper is not better
The last
thing that a patient should do is mortgage their health
for fiscal concerns. Typically, plastic surgeons that
are providing the lowest breast augmentation prices are
usually poorly qualified in providing the surgery. Many
of these plastic surgeons are not board-certified and
do not contain the necessary medical qualifications to
perform this treatment. Therefore, you may save some
money when using their services but you are taking a
large and unnecessary risk with something as important
as your health.
If financial concerns are a major issue for you, it may
help to know that most plastic surgeons offer payment
plans for their services. Rather than worrying about
paying such a large lump sum figure for your treatment,
you can pay for the cost of breast implants over a
period of time. This enables many individuals to obtain
the breast augmentation surgery that they always wanted
without dipping too far into their savings.
Price
related to level of expertise
There is an important point to remember when it comes
to comparing prices to different plastic surgeons.
There is not necessarily a price/quality relationship
with plastic surgeons. Just because one doctor is more
expensive than the other does not necessarily mean he
is better or will give a superior result.
It is
important to choose your surgeon based on their level
of skill, experience and specialization in the area you
are considering. Also, of course, the level of care and
understanding you feel from the doctor. It is never a
good idea to choose a plastic surgeon simply because he
is the most expensive.
Negotiating the cost
The cost of
breast augmentation surgery can range from $3,000.00 to
$10,000.00 and up. The average price is approximately
$4,500.00. But keep in mind that an $8,000.00 breast
augmentation is not necessarily better than a
$4,500.00 breast augmentation. Don't be afraid to
inquire why one doctor's prices are different from
another doctors, to negotiate, to be nice and not to be
overly demanding. If the doctor thinks you are going to
be in his or her office asking questions three times
more often than the average patient, then they may
charge you more.
Just keep in
mind that if you feel the best about the $1,000.00 more
expensive doctor, then you should go with him or her.
If it is the less expensive doctor you feel best about,
then go with him or her. This is important to you, and
it is pretty much going to be with you for life, so
choose who you think will make you the happiest woman
in the world!
